TUTORS

LVEP is seeking new tutors. We have adult learners waiting for help.

The LVEP frequently finds itself facing the issue of matching tutors with busy schedules and learners who may have transportation issues. It is possible that we have both tutors and learners on waiting lists because we can't match times of availability. You can help us immensely by adding your name to our list of available tutors. We provide all the training and support you'll need.

We offer free tutor training for those interested in volunteering with the LVEP. If you have a genuine interest in literacy and would like to work with us, please let us know. After the workshop you will be matched with an adult learner of your choice. You and your client will meet once or twice a week for an hour or so, depending on your schedules.

...a recent training session for new tutors....

The LVEP has placed volunteer tutors specializing in mathematics, reading, and writing in the GED classes at the Berkeley County Adult Learning Center and others specializing in mathematics at the James Rumsey Technical Institute Learning Center.

In development are classes in Financial Literacy, Health Literacy, and Computer Literacy. We need assistance in developing and tutoring for these classes.

COME JOIN US in making a difference in the lives of people in the Eastern Panhandle.

Call the LVEP main office (304)264-0298 for information on our next class

Other Opportunities to Volunteer

COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP: We always need help with staffing our Public Relations, Finance, and Program Committees. Committee responsibilities are described in our By-Laws (downloadable in the next section.) You don't have to be a Board member to help steer this organization in the right direction.

We'd also like to encourage community-minded individuals to serve on our Board of Directors. If you think you could help us to develop even greater support services to the Eastern Panhandle, please call 304)264-0298 or e-mail LVEP.Betty_Kreinik@CoolPond.net
